More than 70 current and potential lady golfers were at the South Essex Golf and Country Club at Herongate for the "Women in Golf" Day.
A totally free event designed by American Golf to introduce golf to women in a fun and non-intimidating environment, the day was dry and there were bursts of sunshine.
Ladies of all standards and capabilities participated in the day's events, which consisted of an introduction to the game plus tuition on the driving range with resident head PGA professional Jonathan Simpson and his assistants Mark Shervill and John Wright.
Also a fun putting competition was organised, with prizes consisting of a preferred loyalty scheme and lunch for two at South Essex Golf and Country Club. Some ladies were having so much fun on the course they were late for lunch.
All ladies who registered for the day were also entered into a free draw for a two-night golf package for two at St Mellion International Golf and Country Club, and three exclusive pieces of jewellery were kindly donated by the Austrian designer Pierre Lang.
Throughout the day, ladies were provided with refreshments and lunch and given a gift pack with goodies supplied by Hildon Natural Mineral Water and Vantage.
Jonathan Simpson put together some very good lesson packages for all the day's participants, with the added bonus of a free seven iron to anyone who signed up for lessons on the day.

Here's how to do it - Jonathan Simpson gives instruction during the Women in Golf day Castle Point's Texas Scramble
Castle Point held their annual Texas Scramble with a strong line-up of 24 teams.
The first group out - D Butler, W Foster, A McIntyre and T Pearson - set a very high standard with 10 birdies and eight pars for a net 57.9.
This seemed a winning total until A Adams, S Murphy, A Ledger and C Ledger came in with a net 57.8. They had nine birdies and nine pars to snatch overall victory on 0.1.
