This coming weekend Arena-Essex will be busy with over 300 competitors in motor racing action.

On Sunday (May 2), Canvey's Vic Bilkey will be debuting a brand new SuperBanger after first smashing the 15 lap record and then smashing up his car last month.

Gravesend's Gary Finch in his super Nova will be looking to end a run of second places with his first win in the always exciting Group 'A' Hot Rods, while Wickford's Andrew Armiger will be keen to power his immaculate Clio to more Hot-Rod glory in the 2-litre class and so add to his already impressive haul of three trophies this season.

On Monday, over 100 bangers will be battling all the way to the Rawlins Destruction Derby, with Chelmsford's Howard Martin out to repeat the superb heat and final double he achieved in round one of the championship back in March.

Find Arena-Essex on the A1306 by Lakeside, 400 yards from the M25 junction 30/31.

Stock Car/Hot-Rod practice is from 12.30pm, grand parade at 1.45pm, and the first race is at 2pm.

Admission is £7.50 and £3.50 U14/OAPs.
