Romford's Kevin Wilsher came within an ace of winning the annual Rob Belchamber Memorial Trophy at Arena-Essex in a phenomenal 45 car race.
Wilsher - who has won the prestigious event once in his career back in 1990 - spent the whole race on Sunday chasing newcomer Steve O'Sullivan, who was happily removing drivers en route to a superb victory.
Wilsher finally caught up with O'Sullivan just after the chequered flag - and drove flat out through the back of him.
Grays' Russ McAngus debuted his Brentwood show car, all beautifully signwritten and in prestine condition - until Canterbury's Roy Bramley decided to play.
First he blitzed McAngus with an almighty head-on, then he pushed him down the home straight, and finished him off with another almighty assault.
