Colchester and Tendring saw some outstanding performances in Sunday's Eastern Young Athletes meeting.
The young band of under 13s found stiff competition, but provided some excellent places with Samil Khan and Jonathan Claxton placing second in the A and B string 100 metres and long jump.
Chris Kirkham in only his second track meeting finished second in the 800m, third in the shot. Emma Cresswell Maynard continued to improve with second in the long jump and third in the 800m.
The under 15s continued to provide outstanding performances in both the boys and girls, Robert Smith proved that he is a talent of the future placing second in the 100m 12.8, first 400m 56.0 and first high jump with a jump of 1.60.
Marlon North in his first year as an under 15 did well in high jump first 1m 35 and continued to provide a solid support in the shot and javelin. Robert Northover ran in the hurdles, 1500m finishing third and second.
The under 15 boys also were well supported with two new members Marvin Gallagher and Sam Reynolds collecting valuable points from track and field.
With several illnesses in the under 15 girls the team did well to fill all the slots, the girls saw firsts in the hurdles, Sophie Southgate and Hannah Dey.
Katie Cresswell Maynard and Hannah Dey finished second in the 800m, Laura Welham and Kirsty Hunter continued to improve in the 1500m with a second and first. Megan Hughes taking time out of the middle distances to finish second B 100m and third A 200m.
Sophie Southgate continued to show her spirit speed with a third in the 100 and first in the B 200m. Leanne Dey rushed from her netball competition to finish first in the javelin with 20.02.
Melissa Clapham continued where she left off in 1998, with strong performances in the shot 8m 90, discus 22m 63 and javelin. Gemma Smith showed her flexibility competing in the 100m B third, 1500m A second and long jump.
Heather Shepherd has shown the move up in age groups hasn't blunted her speed with firsts in the 100 and 200m.
Jenny Northover and Victoria Goff collected valuable points in the 800m placing second in the A and B Ian Vichery saw a return to form with good performances in the 200m 25.8 and the 400m 54.9.
