History-making heavyweight Stuart St John has covered himself in glory by becoming the first ever boxer from Berry Boys to win a senior national title.
Now the powerful fighter, who has been with the Pitsea-based club for 12 years, has been picked for England against Denmark.
He won his Amateur Boxing Association championship at the sport's glamour weight by comfortably outpointing P Lewis, from Taunton, 15-5 over three rounds at Barnsley.
Berry Boys' spokesman Tony Read said: "It's a tremendous achievement for Stuart and the club.
"We've had other national amateur champions, but to finally get one in the senior section is special.
