The popular Canvey Island Five Mile Road Race on Sunday was re-visited by 14 runners from Tiptree Road Runners, half of whom were juniors.

Martyn Byford set the standard by running well inside 30 minutes on the fast, flat, out and back course close to the sea wall.

Brigid Wallen stole the show, however, the only lady competing for Tiptree.

She stormed in to finish first Vet in the 35 age group (third lady overall), setting both a new personal best and club record.

Mark Duffield, the only Tiptree junior in the main event, again came close to chasing down that elusive 40-minute barrier.

In the "junior run" Tiptree were well represented as results ranged from a first by Adam Wright, second by Michael Tann, and third by both Rebecca Bailey and Elliott Wright, sixth by Daniel Wright to 13th by Catherine Bailey.
