Residents of Black Notley got together to give a special send off for village postman, Ernie Roberts who retired last week.
Ernie, 64, who lives in Chelmsford, has worked as a postman in Black Notley for nearly ten years.
Black Notley postmaster, Mr Piush Vaidya said residents think of him as a friend: "He is very popular in the village because he knows every family personally and knows when people are away on holiday. He really looks after people."
Around 70 people met at the post office on Ernie's last day and handed over presents and cards.
