The Boardworth-run rally team duo both scored a podium finish on the second round of the Daihatsu Rally Challenge, the Presto Print Stages Rally at Avon Park near Bournemouth recently.
The Dupont backed Daihatsu Avanzato of Scott Vogl, from Rayleigh and Danny Batchford, from Braintree, were competing in only their second rally and making their all-tarmac stages debut.
After eight tight and twisting stages the pair netted third place overall and scooped the Novice Trophy and if they continue with this success throughout the season look set to bring the Novice Trophy back again to the Boardworth camp.
Last year's Novice Trophy winners, Boardworth drivers Neil Wood, from Witham and Justin Imber, from Braintree, went one better than Scott and Danny and finished in second place in their Avanzato.
After an event-long tussle with eventual winner, 18-year-old Welshman Mark Thomas, they lost out by a mere six seconds which highlights how closely fought the day had been for Neil and Justin.
The third round of the Daihatsu Rally Challenge, on Saturday, April 17, is the Somerset Stages Rally, using the forest tracks around the Minehead area which includes the infamous Porlock toll road section.
