Canvey's Haystack Football Club took a giant step towards claiming the South East Essex Sunday League Division One title after a great 2-0 win at Runwell Raiders.
The defeat almost certainly ends Runwell's own hopes of being champions, but Haystack are still some way from definitely taking the crown.
Three points from their last two games should be enough, but those matches are against CISK, who themselves could be champs if they win them both and the other game they still have to play.
Farrey and an own goal accounted for Haystack's tally, but the match was marred by a Runwell player suffering a nasty back injury, which led to the action being halted for 30 minutes.
Another Runwell-based side, Rayford Town, had two goals from Daley to thank for their 4-2 win at Benfleet's Venables as the Division Three Divisional Cup got underway. Results
