Town clinched the Senior Division Three Championship on Good Friday following a hard fought victory at Ramsden.

Town went into the game without two of their recognised strikers being forced to re-shuffle their starting line-up.

Despite having much of the early possession, Basildon went a goal behind on the half hour when Ramsden's Clarke headed home from close range.

In the period leading up to and after half-time Town continued to come across Paul Isaacs in Ramsden's goal who produced a number of excellent saves to keep his goal intact.

Town eventually levelled the scores after 70 minutes when Jason Potter scrambled the ball home from close range.

Basildon continued to push forward looking for a second goal which came five minutes from time when a looping header from Bradley Lawrence sailed over the Ramsden goalkeeper into the top of the net which brought about joyous celebrations among the ranks of Town supporters on the touchline.

Town then had to suffer a late scare when Ramsden looked to have levelled up the scores only for the goal to be disallowed for offside.

The final whistle brought further celebrations amonge both players and supporters.

It also brought to an end a long barren period when for so long, Town have been in the depths of their respective divisions, and the securing of the Senior Division Three Championship is a fitting reward for everyone connected with Basildon Town.
