Heybridge's second win in a week took them six points clear of the drop zone and with games in hand on their rivals Ryman League Premier Divison football looks increasingly likely again at Scraley Road next season.
The match exploded into life in the 14th minute when Slough took the lead.
A long ball forward into the Swifts box was met by former Southend player Mark Hall and his looping header beat Swifts goalkeeper Kingsley Banks and although Tony English hooked the ball clear off the underside of the bar the referee's assistant was well positioned to give the goal.
Within seconds Swifts were level, as Adam Gillespie let fly with a curling shot from 30 yards that left the visiting goal keeper stranded.
The talented midfielder nearly gave the home side the lead two minutes later when he drove low just wide after a Tony Adcock cross was only half cleared.
The visitors didn't help their cause in the 36th minute when Deaner appeared to head butted Colin Wall right in front of the referee and was given his marching orders.
Late in the half Swifts had two great chances, when Mark Cranfield crossed and the first had to be headed behind and then Tony Adcock headed wide of the far post.
Between these two chances Alex Fiddes fired over after Nicky Simpson's cross had been deflected into his path.
After the break Swifts pushed forward looking for the winner but the ten men of Slough lifted their game and made it difficult.
On the hour a ball over the top was expertly flicked on by Tony Adcock and Simpson chaed it hard towards the keeper. He was beaten by a defender who sent the ball over his keeper but fortunately for him wide of the post.
Simpson should have done better when he broke clear on goal but the keeper did well to save with his legs.
With 12 minutes to go, Wayne Adcock and Simon Parker replaced Simpson and McClean as the home side made a final push for all three points.
A superb cross from Fiddes beat the Slough keeper but also Tony Adcock and was headed behind for a corner.
The kick was taken by Wayne Adcock and curled in at the far post and met by Lewis but the keeper blocked his effort.
Slough failed to clear their box and when the ball rebounded to Lewis he made no mistake by looping a header inside the far post to give Swifts three more valuable points.
