A new school information technology centre has been approved by town planners.
St Katherine's Primary School in Hilton Road, Canvey, won permission for a one-storey extension at the side of its main building.
Councillors made the decision at a meeting of the town planning committee on Tuesday.
The extension will be used for teaching information technology with computer equipment as well as providing some extra staff accommodation.
The authority has not received any objections to the scheme and there is not expected to be an increase in the number of pupils or teachers at the school as a result of the development.
Councillor Jane David (Labour, Canvey Winter Gardens ward) said the centre was an "excellent scheme".
She added: "The school has worked very hard to get the funds for this and I'm happy to move the recommendation."
