Stilt walker Jason Perry, Andy Pandy and Looby Loo dropped in at Billericay's Somerfield store as hundreds of children were treated to a packed night of fun.
Face painting, games, music and an Easter bonnet competition topped the line-up at Somerfield in Queen's Park as part of the store's policy of boosting public awareness of what's on offer.
Spokesman Diane Warren said: "It was certainly a good night - we had many people come along. Staff wore fancy dress and we had characters from Star Wars and cowboys and Indians."
The fun night was also designed to promote sales of the company's scratchcard scheme which donates a percentage of takings to local charities.
As a result, Somerfield will boost the coffers of the Billericay-based Early Years Forum, which helps parents and children.
