The Colchester Sixth Form College football squad rounded off their trip to Italy with a 2-0 win over Italian semi-professionals Bussolengo.
Goals from skipper Sean Caton and Greg Felgate capped a great week for the young tourists which included a tour around the 85,000 seater San Siro stadium.
Sean Caton clapped in the goal of the trip. The Sixth Form colleges' skipper controlled the ball with his chest before driving in a volley from inside the centre circle to seal Colchester's 2-0 win.
In a marvellous game against semi professional opposition Colchester put on their best performance of the tour against a skillful Italian side with a cynical edge.
After a nip and tuck first half which ended goalless Andrew Harvey floated in a free kick which was helped in by Greg Felgate.
Rob Tanner made an excellent save during a lively encounter before Caton's wonder goal finished the game.
He said: "I was really pleased with the way I took it, the Italians have been giving stick but when that one went in even their players were saying bravo.
"That is the best we have played for some time and it was against a very good team. The goal and the result topped an excellent tour."
The first teams' opening goal prompted Harvey to peel off his shirt and reveal a dedication to coach Simon Fusniak known as Womble.
The second team went down 2-1 to Bussolengo reserves but played well and were unlucky not to snatch a draw.
An uncharacteristic kicking mistake by Graham Smith led to the Italians first goal against the run of play but Smith made up for that with a superb save at the feet of two Italian attackers.
Andy Guthrie levelled things with a difficult shot from a Matt French pass and Colchester looked capable of forcing a winner.
Guthrie's goal celebration included a 50 yard run ending with a hop skip and jump into a sand pit on the surrounding athletics track.
They were denied a penalty when Paul Worrow was dragged down and the same striker hit the cross bar with a glancing header.
The whole squad enjoyed a day trip to Milan including a visit to the 85,000 seater San Siro stadium.
The players were today due to leave Italy and are expected back in Colchester at 12.30pm Good Friday.
