Police are investigating the cause of a massive hay fire at a Wickford farm.
Five fire engines were called to the blaze at Castledon Farm, Castledon Road, Wickford, at about 3.30pm on Wednesday.
More than 200 tonnes of straw are believed to have been destroyed and firemen were still dampening down the remains today.
A spokesman for Basildon police confirmed the cause of the fire was being investigated.
A group of eight or nine youths was seen running away from the fire down Castledon Road towards Wickford high street.
They are believed to be aged between 12 and 15 years and are all described as white. One was wearing a yellow jumper and another was wearing a navy and white top.
