Poor old Thomas the Tank Engine went off the rails on his way to the East Anglian Railway Museum in Chappel.
Thomas ran out of steam when his trailer got stuck in mud on Spring Gardens Road - just yards from its destination at 9.30am on Wednesday.
Museum volunteers and the lorry driver tried to rescue Thomas throughout the day but without success.
Hauliers were today (Thursday) due to send another low loader in an attempt to rescue Thomas. But museum organisers stressed Thomas would still be running to schedule for this weekend's festivities.
