In the early season time trial events, Gary Glenister and Mick Scott of the Essex Roads Cycling Club have started well.
In the three Tandem events that they have entered they have recorded good times and been in the prizes.
In the ECCA 10 mile event they recorded 23m 29s to take first place, the following week in the ECRA 10 mile event they took second place with a time of 23m 18s.
On Saturday in the Southborough and District 10 mile event in Kent they took fourth place with a time of 22m 29s. This represented an average speed of 26.7 mph.
On Sunday Ray Smith organised the club's Spring Road race over 45 miles around the Bicknacre, Woodham Ferrers and Cock Clarks circuit and the event was won by Vince Devine of the Whitewebbs CC after a keenly contested race.
Vince along with three others, had broken away with 15 miles to go and won the sprint for the line.
Nick Hastler from the promoting club rode well to take seventh place and his first points of the season.
