A heartless thief stole a bike from a woman who had just been knocked over by a hit and run driver.
Police say the woman was cycling along Devonshire Road, Chafford Hundred, when she was struck by a car and thrown from her bike, causing some cuts and a swollen right knee.
Another driver went to her aid, but while she was being cared for, her silver bike was stolen.
Det Insp Terry Geraghty of Grays police said: "It's bad enough she should be knocked over and the driver not have the courtesy to stop, but to have her bike stolen while she is suffering from her injuries and the shock is completely heartless."
