Overnight closures on both carriageways of a five-mile stretch of the A12 have been announced by the Highways Agency for this weekend.
Work only finished last night on bridge work at Witham which had been causing long delays.
The southbound carriageway will be closed between Webbs Farm at Margaretting and the Ingatestone junctions from 10pm Saturday until 7am Sunday.
The northbound will be shut between Mountnessing and Webbs Farm at Margaretting from 11pm Sunday and 6am Monday.
Contractors will be removing equipment after the completion of a £3 million programme of resurfacing and bridge strengthening.
