Wivenhoe keeper Darryl Trigg has been snapped up by Division Three club Brighton.

And if he manages to impress, the Dragons could be in line for a four-figure fee.

Trigg, who has been training with the south coast outfit over the last month, was signed before yesterday's transfer deadline.

Dave Whymark, chairman of the Ryman League club, said today: "At the moment he's with them until the end of the season. It's on non-contract terms on a week-to-week basis.

"Then they'll be telling him whether he'll be fully contracted. Should he be taken on they've said we'll get a fee. That's likely to be four figures."

Brighton boss Jeff Wood, a former Broad Lane keeper, is the link between the two clubs.

Wivenhoe were dumped out of the East Anglian Cup last night by Jewson League Ipswich Wanderers.

The Dragons, who fielded a mainly reserve side, went down to the only goal of the game 15 minutes from time.
