A 36 tonne lorry caused chaos at Brook Street last week when it jackknifed onto the M25 roundabout.
Police redirected traffic around the lorry whilst rescue workers prepared to lift the trailer off the ground with compressed air bags.
Officer at the scene, PC Barry Haves from the Metropolitan Police area traffic unit said: "It was very fortunate that there were no other vehicles involved and the driver stepped out unscathed."
Lorry driver, Steve Duffield, said: "I have been driving lorries for some years and this has never happened before and it won't happen again. To say I got a bit of a fright is putting it mildly."
The accident happened at 6.15am and it took the rescue team until 11am before they were ready to lift the heavy trailer which contained blocks of road tar.
The roundabout was shut for 30 minutes when 9lb bags of compressed air were pumped up to lift the lorry whilst ropes secured it either side.
