The memory of Billericay's famous workhouse chimney is to live on - at the House of Commons.
Well-known Billericay resident Joe Wildman presented a framed print of the 120-foot chimney to the town's MP, Teresa Gorman , at the weekend.
The print will now be put up in an office at the House of Commons as a lasting memento of the landmark.
The 150-year-old chimney stood at St Andrews Hospital and was recently taken down, brick by brick, as part of plans to develop the site for residential use.
A 120-home housing estate is being built at the hospital after its famous Burns Unit moved to Chelmsford.
Mr Wildman, 73, of Norsey Road, said he wanted to do something to remember the chimney and the hospital's maternity block by.
He said: "When it was to be demolished local people said I must take some photos of it and so that's what I did."
