George Burley is today hoping video evidence will clear Manuel Thetis of blame in a double sending off in Ipswich's 1-0 win at West Bromwich Albion.
But it is likely to end in disappointment as Thetis clearly man-handled Albion's Sean Flynn during an 85th minute flare-up which saw the Baggies' midfielder also red-carded.
Thetis retaliated after being pushed to the floor by Flynn and Whitley Bay referee David Laws had no choice but to dismiss both players.
Burley said: "I have spoken to the referee and he thought Manu had grabbed the player by his neck - I thought he had just put his arms out. But he has agreed to look at the video and he can't be fairer than that.
"From where I was sitting it looked harsh."
Baggies' boss Denis Smith said: "I have no qualms about the sendings off."
Thetis hit the only goal of the game in the 15th minute but was sent-off with five minutes left and becomes the only red card for Ipswich this season.
Burley said: "Manu's was a good overhead kick which has won us the game. Jim Magilton hit a smashing shot which hit a post and went across goal.
"It was a good, professional performance. We had opportunities to get one or two more but we were always fairly comfortable.
"We were away from home and West Brom were desperate for a point but overall we deserved to win and we have taken the three points so we can't ask more than that.
"It was important we got the three points with Bradford winning and Bolton and Birmingham dropping points.
"It is going to go right to the death so we need to keep winning."
Smith said: "Ipswich kept the ball well and got bodies behind the ball. Both keepers could have gone home."
"The goal Ipswich scored, Thetis will never be able to do in his life and apart from Magilton's shot against the post they didn't do anything else."
