Harold police are reopening the hunt for a phantom sniper who has been terrorising drivers in Harold Wood.

Terrified drivers in Harold Court Road have been left covered in broken glass after air rifle pellets shattered their windscreens.

However police say they are stumped by the mystery gunman because none of the victims have actually seen where the shooting is coming from.

Sgt Mick Adamson from Harold Hill police says there is a slight pattern to the 'shootings' and he is hoping this will lead to finding the sniper.

All the victims have reported a loud bang before windows and windscreen shattered and although no-one has been physically hurt Sgt Adamson says he does not want to take the chance of that happening.

He said: "This is so dangerous for drivers and pedestrians.

"Being hit with an air pellet anywhere near the face and head can have terrible consequences, in some cases it can be lethal." He said that until witnesses come forward there is very little police can do.

He said: "We really are relying on help from the public to catch whoever is doing this before someone is seriously hurt."

The latest shootings happened on March 10 and 11 both at around 5pm and other victims reported shootings in February and last October.
