Eddie Barrett certainly put his name in the frame when he fished a session at the Warren, Stanford-le-Hope.

Eddie, from Kingswood, Basildon, was fishing in only two-and-a-half feet of water when he landed a huge 33lb pike on his 12lb line.

However, although the monster predator was snap-happy, Eddie was rueing not bringing his camera to have proof of his achievements - even though the weighing of the big fish was witnessed by a committee member bailiff and Carol Taylor, of Eversley Road, Benfleet.

A quick mobile phone call to his wife Linda soon solved the problem as she made the eight-mile round trip with a camera to get a permanent record of Eddie's personal best catch.

Eddie Barrett proudly displays his massive 33lb pike thanks to wife Linda.
