Saturday will see Billericay take part in the biggest match in their history - knowing that victory will see them through to the final of the National Tetley Vase Cup, which is to be played at Twickenham on April 17.

With only four teams remaining from the original 512 which begun back in September, the Willowbrook side have been drawn at home to Scarborough in Saturday's semi-final tie, which kicks-off at 2pm.

Preparations for the game began soon after the draw was made as Billericay are expecting their biggest ever attendance with posters put up around the town and leaflets delivered to some 13,000 homes in the area.

It has been a remarkable last two seasons for the club, since the arrival of player coaches Paul Daly (who is also the Billericay captain) and Kevin Harman.

The First XV have played 55 games in their time at the club and have lost just three times, twice in friendlies against teams from a higher league and the quarter final of the Tetley Vase competition last season at the hands of Slough.

Last season saw Billericay win the league with a 100 per cent record and this season have already won the Eastern Counties Division Two title again, with a 100 per cent record and with four matches still to play!

With Billericay still involved in both cup competitions, they have a chance of a unique treble, something they could have only dreamed about a few seasons ago.

The club can also boast several Essex representatives as well as a current Eastern Counties player in Andy Collings.

The club as a whole has been transformed with the arrival of several new players strengthening not only the first team but also the seconds and third XV.

The club are still looking for sponsors and in particular a shirt sponsor for a possible televised Twickenham final. Anyone who may be interested in assisting Billericay with sponsorship, is invited to telephone the club on 01277 841442.

Looking ahead to Saturday's encounter with Scarborough, Billericay will approach it with confidence, but also expecting nothing less than a hard test as they found in the previous round when narrowly beating Cornish side St Just.

However, with a home advantage and a large home support, Billericay are hopeful of making it through to the final at Twickenham.

Saturday's match at Willowbrook in Stock Road, Billericay kicks off at 2pm.

Entrance is by programme on the day at the club with car parking facilities available near the clubhouse.
