An inquest was to be held today after a 53-year-old Basildon man was killed when he laid in the path of a train.
Emergency services were called to the Fobbing / Five Bells level crossing on Saturday. A passer-by claimed to have seen the man, believed to be from Basildon, walk onto the track of the LTS line.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. The family, who are believed to be from south Essex, are being traced."
