Lights, camera, action! Southend media students have won a unique chance to showcase their work on the big screen in front of talent scouts from the British Film Industry.
The undergraduates -- from South East Essex College - will watch screenings of their own work at a study day in Cineworld in Kent, followed by an exclusive showing of the new British film A Kind of Hush written and directed by Brian Stimer.
After the film, the students will be given the opportunity to quiz the director, producer and distributor of the film as well as representatives from British Screen Finance, Channel Four and the British Board of Film Classification.
Course director, Kate Thorne said: "This is an amazing opportunity for the students to meet such professionals and to see a film that has not yet been screened outside of the festival community."
The study day is part of a series of events, organised by college staff, designed to give media students the chance to experience the film industry at first hand.
Ms Thorne added: "Film Four is currently developing a project to commission short films from students for national transmission and an exchange programme with the National School of Film and Television will see Southend students filming on a soundstage while working alongside industry professionals."
