Moves are underway to stop heavy lorries thundering through Great Bentley.
At a meeting of Great Bentley Parish Council on Thursday night, council leader Robert Taylor presented a report outlining the problems villagers faced.
The council want restrictions on four roads leading into the village - Plough Road, Heckford's Road, Thorrington Road and Shair Lane.
Last month Mr Taylor and councillor Lynda McWilliams carried out a survey of heavy lorries passing through the village.
Between 3pm and 4pm one day they clocked 21 lorries on their roads.
They believe the lorries are coming from Martins Farm and Little Bentley.
Lynda McWilliams said: "We have been dilly dallying around the issue, we need to put in our own request for weight restrictions."
Councillor Roger Adams also raised the question of road safety in Plough Road where Great Bentley Primary School is located.
The report revealed damage was being caused to road verges as there was not enough room for two lorries to pass each other.
The council is now writing to Tendring Council to impose weight restrictions on routes leading into the village.
