OUTHEND United have been riding high on a crest of a wave so far this season and defender Andy Edwards is now hoping for more of the same off the pitch too.
For the experienced defender, who has re-established himself as a regular in the Shrimpers starting line-up, has taken up sailing and is having lessons at the Fairlop Centre in Hainault.
"We had a day off a few weeks ago and I just went over there for a lesson," said Edwards, 34.
"It wasn't something I'd ever really thought about doing before but it was quite enjoyable. I've missed the last few weeks - the first because I was injured and the second because it was too cold - so, although I'm something of a fair-weather sailor, I will keep going."
But the former Birmingham City defender, who made his 200th appearance for Southend last week - admits he is unlikely to change sports just yet.
"Ellen MacArthur has nothing worry about," he joked.
"And I'm unlikely to be in the next series of Superstars either - not just yet anyway!"
