BROWNIES and Guides raised about £400 through a sponsored walk to support repair work on Southend Pier.
The Eighth Westcliff Rainbows and Guide group were joined by family members and friends on a 2.6-mile walk along the seafront in an effort to raise money to Adopt a Plank, a scheme supported by the Echo.
In total, 54 children and adults took part in the walk, which took them from a seafront shelter off Chalkwell Avenue, Chalkwell, along Western Esplanade, past Westcliff Casino then back again.
