BASILDON'S green waste collection service will go into hibernation today for the whole of the winter season.
As many as 45,000 households across the district use the service to fill white biodegradable sacks with grass cuttings, plants, weeds, shrubs, branches, leaves and house plants ready to be composted.
The last fortnight of collections will take place today, but further supplies of the sacks will still be available to residents from council area housing offices and local libraries.
