The six youngsters are taking part in the test, organised by the BBC's Naked Scientists team.
As part of a programme, which will be broadcast on radio, the children will have to provide samples of human DNA to appease aliens who have abducted the show's presenters.
The children will compete against youngsters from schools in Cambridgeshire, Herts, Norfolk, Suffolk and Northants.
The programme will be broadcast on BBC Essex on Sunday at 6pm.
