A £21MILLION centre for mental health patients at the old Rochford Hospital site is set to finally win the backing of councillors.
Up to 111 in-patient beds for people suffering with depression and other mental health problems are likely to be created at the Rochford hospital site if the proposals are approved.
The number of beds at Runwell Hospital in Wickford is likely to be slashed from 192 to 96 because of the investment at Rochford.
The move will mean several patients are transferred from Wickford to the new unit.
The proposals look likely to receive the all-clear from councillors at a Rochford District Council meeting on Thursday, subject to a few minor changes.
