DEMOLITION work is well under way on part of the Farringdon multi-storey car park in Southend town centre.
The 1970s-built prefabricated section of the car park, constructed some years after the original part, is being pulled down because its deteriorating condition makes it uneconomic to maintain and repair.
Reorganisation of the remaining part of the car park means no spaces have been lost in the run-up to Christmas.
The Farringdon car park is earmarked for eventual redevelopment as part of the regeneration of the town centre.
