An appeal was today made for witnesses to an accident which left a teenager lying in the road injured.
The 17-year-old, who has not been named, was riding his motorbike in the area of Abbey Street, Thorpe, about midnight on Saturday.
A Peugeot car, believed to be a metallic blue 106 or 206, was involved in a collision with the youngster.
A spokesman for Clacton police said the driver failed to stop after the accident and left the scene.
"The teenager was left lying in the road with minor injuries," she said.
"The car would have a broken wheeltrim and damage to the driver's side of the vehicle."
The spokesman said that officers were keen to trace any witnesses.
