The accident happened at the junction of Ipswich Road and St Andrew's Avenue yesterday morning.
The driver of a tractor pulling 11 tonnes of tree surgeon cuttings had to swerve to avoid another car and clipped the roundabout.
PC Paul Barry, of Stanway traffic police, said: "He took avoiding action and clipped the roundabout and lost his load.
"The driver of the other vehicle failed to stop and may not have been aware of the accident."
