An oil painting depicting the picture postcard village of Finchingfield has made £24,000 at auction.
Summer Afternoon, Finchingfield, painted by Edwardian artist Lucien Pissarro went under the hammer with auctioneer Christie's on Friday and was bought by a private collector.
The artist painted the work when he visited Finchingfield in the summer of 1905.
He was staying at the Town Hall Farm at the time and produced six canvasses during his stay.
Born in Paris in 1863, Lucien Pissarro moved to live and work in England and later married Esther Bensusan, who was related to Bensusan-Butt, a prominent figure in Colchester during the 1960s and 1970s.
The lot was estimated to sell for between £20,000 to £30,000.
It featured in the biggest-ever auction of 20th century British art held in King Street, London.
