As debuts go, Gavin Williams ranks his Ipswich Town one as arguably his best ever.

The Welsh international only joined the Blues on a month's loan ten days ago, but made an immediate impact in Town's Coca-Cola Championship 1-1 draw at Coventry City.

Williams turned in a man-of-the-match performance for Town on the right side of midfield and opened the scoring with a clinical finish shortly into the second half.

The 25-year-old said: "I don't think I've scored a goal on my debut before until Saturday so from that point of view it was pleasing.

"But it was a case of mixed emotions at the end because we didn't take the three points."

Williams is now gearing up to make his home debut in a Blues shirt with the visit of high-flying Reading tonight.

The Merthyr Tydfil-born midfielder has only turned out at Portman Road twice in his career before - including West Ham's 2-0 victory on New Year's Day where he was one of the shining lights on that day.

But now Williams wants to turn in a similar performance on the illustrious Suffolk turf - this time in the blue strip of Ipswich.

"I've got good memories of the place and have done well in my two games there. I'll be doing my utmost to do well, will be giving 100 per cent and hopefully help get some more points on the board for Ipswich."
