MOTOR insurance and tax dodgers were targeted by police from Rayleigh's traffic division in an operation on the A127 during the rush-hour last night.
Officers using the Automatic Number Plate Recognition system (ANPR) parked up on the London and Southend-bound tracks of the dual carriageway.
The system involves officers manning mobile cameras positioned on the roadside. The cameras are linked to a central computer which can tell police if a passing car is stolen or has no tax or insurance.
