Lights, camera, action - young film-makers of the future have won a top award and helped to get an important message across to other youngsters through their work.
The film-makers were recruited through Connexions and Colchester Youth Services.
There were nine 15 and 16-year-olds involved in the project who go to Sir Charles Lucas, St Benedict's College and Colchester County High School for Girls.
They worked together to write, act, direct, film and edit two short films.
The films were called Protect Yourself, which was a guide to sexual health, and Possession, a guide to some of the consequences of drug use.
The two films were entered into the Colchester Young Film Makers Awards 2005, hosted by Colchester Youth Services at the Townhouse earlier this month.
And the film Protect Yourself won the best film award.
Both films will now be part of two peer-led education packages which will be available to all schools in Colchester.
