Colchester United showed they have guts and strength as they won their fifth game in a row by beating Northampton Town.
Hustle - Colchester's Richard Garcia tries to find a way through. (46455-8)
The U's showed real resolve to come back from behind twice and win the game in extra-time and all done with a side which had eight changes from the team that beat Blackpool 3-2 in the Coca-Cola League One last weekend.
Out of the starting line-up that had proved so successful was Aidan Davision, Wayne Brown, Kevin Watson, Chris Iwelumo, Mark Yeates, John White, Liam Chilvers and Jamie Cureton.
Manager Phil Parkinson had used the LDV Vans Trophy tie in past seasons as an opportunity to give other squad players a run out.
The U's side did not look like a scrappy reserve team last night, although they did take time to get going.
Once they did, though, they created a hatful of chances and eventually stood firm to put themselves into the hat for Saturday's third-round draw.
