Europe is her oyster! Colchester's ace female boxing champion Shanee Martin says she is now ready to take on the best Europe can throw at her.
And the 23-year-old wonder woman of the ring is set to get her big chance early in the new year with a fight against reigning European Flyweight champion Cathy Brown in February.
Martin, of Gladiator Way, earned her big chance after producing the best performance of her career when beating France's Valerie Rangeard in a canter over six rounds at London's Elephant and Castle under new promoter, former British and Commenwealth heavyweight champion Derek Williams.
"I was giving away a-half-a-stone in weight," Martin, fighting under new sponsor AJC Contractors (Colchester), told the Gazette: "And Rangeard was a very tough opponent.
"But I produced my best yet and won every round to take the verdict with a complete shut-out - 60 points to 54.
"I thought I could be in for a tough time at the weigh-in when I only scaled 8 stone 1lb with my jeans on while she tipped the scales at 8 stone without her clothes on.
"Rangeard had also recently gone ten rounds with the world featherweight champion so I expected her to swarm all over me.
"I'm a six-round fighter now, not just four, and hailed as the 'Fighter of the Night' a lot of doors opened for me within five minutes of finishing."
Martin said even before she had reached her dressing room she heard someone shout out 'Cathy Brown next.'
"It was Brown's promoter," she said: "And I shouted back yes, yes, yes and come February I will be ready."
