A MULTI-MILLION pound redevelopment designed to change the face of Southend seafront with bars, restaurants, a casino and new homes is set to clear its first hurdle next week.
Councillors are being recommended to back the principle of businessman John Remblance's ambitious Marine Plaza scheme for the former Dizzyland site opposite the Kursaal.
Also included in the redevelopment are the Foresters and Ship pubs and Pleasant Road as far as the former Grosvenor rock factory.
The scheme would mean the whole area being swept away and replaced by a landmark development including a 100-bedroom four star hotel, casino, 126 homes, together with bars, restaurants and other leisure facilities.
