Adam Proudlock has his eyes fixed on filling the void left by injured striker Sam Parkin.

Ipswich forward Proudlock has missed the last two weeks with a knee injury, but is confident of returning to the squad for the trip to Cardiff in the Coca-Cola Championship on Monday night.

It couldn't have come at a better time, with Parkin ruled out for up to four months with a broken ankle.

Proudlock is due to step up his training this weekend, having taken part in light activity yesterday, and according to Town physio Dave Williams, the signs look good for a first-team recall.

Williams said: "He's (Adam) had tendonitis on the knee, but it's settling down and he will be back in training tomorrow. If that goes OK he should be available for Monday's match at Cardiff."

Parkin, meanwhile, who sustained a broken ankle in the Blues' 3-0 defeat at home to top-of-the-table Reading in midweek, went under the knife yesterday and the operation was deemed a success.

The current top goalscorer - on five this season - will spend the next six weeks in plaster before he faces another six weeks recovering before getting back to action.
