HEALTH experts are alarmed at figures showing Basildon families eat low levels of fruit and vegetables.
The district has the lowest level in the East of England of people eating the recommended five portions a day.
The revelation comes in a public health report which also says people in the Basildon district die younger, smoke more and have a higher percentage of stillbirths than others in the region.
