BASILDON's police stations are getting new faces along with new opening times.

Pitsea, Laindon and Billericay police stations will be open an extra 16 hours from next Thursday as part of the force's new drive to make police more accessible and neighbourhood-friendly.

Pitsea will continue under the command of acting Insp Phil Whitehead who has been at the station since July.

Wickford and Billericay will be run by Insp Tony Rustman, following the move of Insp Richard Croft.

Insp Croft was moved from Billericay to Laindon station, following an Essex Police internal shake-up.

Insp Rustman, 47, has served with Essex Police for 27 years - 18 of them in the Basildon Division.
