Ipswich Town have been hit by a second injury blow as they prepare to do battle with Cardiff City tonight.

Already coming to terms without striker Sam Parkin, who has been ruled out for up to four months with a broken ankle, midfielder Ian Westlake will miss the trip to Wales having sustained a foot injury.

The Clacton-born man had originally been included in the squad for tonight's Coca-Cola Championship clash (kick-off 7.45pm), however, the 22-year-old has now been withdrawn having failed to fully recover from a knock to a foot which is still badly bruised.

Westlake picked up the injury in Ipswich second-string's 4-2 win against Charlton Athletic last Wednesday where he limped off the field during the first half.

The news will have been hard for the midfielder to swallow - having just returned to first-team action following two months out with ankle ligament damage.

Jaime Peters takes Westlake's place in the squad, the 18-year-old has not featured in a Town match since their 3-0 loss at Burnley back in September.

Another face added to the Blues' squad is that of young hotshot Billy Clarke.

The 17-year-old striker has been drafted in as cover for the unavailable Parkin. It is the first time he has featured in the first-team set-up.
