A national charity has revealed plans for a learning centre to be opened in Colchester.
The facility would be for children who have been so systematically bullied they have had to leave school.
The Red Balloon Learning Centre would cater for up to 12 children, aged between 11 and 18 who would be taught by qualified teachers.
A spokesman for the charity said the success of the original centre in Cambridge had led to the plans for similiar ones on Colchester, Norwich and Harrow. It is hoped they could be opened in as little as a year.
The first priority would be to identify and purchase a suitable building in Colchester and raise enough money to cover the costs of it.
The Red Balloon Learner Centre was set up in a private home of education expert Carrie Herbert in Cambridge in 1996.
