HOCKLEY was bathed in a festive glow as around 300 people gathered to watch the town's Christmas lights switch-on.
Rosy-cheeked youngsters smiled with joy when they saw the decorations light up along Spa Road which was closed especially for the occasion.
Father Christmas also made an appearance and carol singers and dancers provided the entertainment.
The lights were switched on by Hockley youngster Ashley Godsell, 14, and his best friend Elise Bresnihen, 13.
Elise suffered a stroke when she was 12 years old. Ashley was recently awarded Closer magazine's Young Hero award for his help in looking after her.
